Grounding of the Firth of Cromarty. 1894
This article about the grounding of the sailing vessel Firth of Cromarty is entitled ‘Stricken victim of the Cruel Sea’ and describes her approach in fog and grounding below the South Foreland Lighthouse before refloating herself and finally settling in St Margaret’s Bay, where her cargo was off loaded. It was then possible to float her off the beach and be towed to Dover Harbour for subsequent inspection and repair.
