To the glory of God / and / to the beloved memory of / WILLIAM ROBERT ALFRERE DAWSON / Captain and Brevet Major – 1st Battalion / Lieu. Col. (1916-19) 6th Battalion / The Queen’s Own / Royal West Kent Regiment / He served in France and Flanders June 1915-December / 1918 – was nine times wounded and four times mentioned / in Despatches and was awarded the Distinquished / Service Order with three bars – He died of wounds at / La Camiers the 3rd December 1918 at the age of 27 / Faithful unto death /
This brass memorial plaque may be found in the south aisle of St Margaret of Antioch church.
