Canoeists attempt crossing the English Channel. August 1973
A report from the Dover Express 31 August 1973 about a crossing of the Channel by 90 canoeists from Boys’ Clubs in England and Germany, organised by the National Association of Boys’ Clubs. Perfect conditions prevailed and escorted by safety boats and fishing trawlers, the crossing was made in 6 – 7 hours. Of the three photographs, the first shows the safe arrival of a few conoeists in France, the second shows canoeists working in a swell, and the third shows a single canoeist enjoying himself in benign conditions.
