Fantastic memories, thankyou!
HARRY BUTCHERS came back from WW II as a major of the british army , having done the campaigns in north afrika and italy – he finally commanded a camp for polish soldiers in belgium – where he met emily, his future belgian wife – they had shops in Dover and then came to st margarets , living in salisbury road – harry had a taxi businesss ( during summer time he used to drive people on holiday at the ” camp” to the beach ) and emily did open a shop for ladies clothing near the church – their house in salisbury rd was named “Philippe” after their grand son ,who came to visit them from belgium on his holidays 3 times a year ! they loved st margarets bay !
