The postcard shows (it is thought to be) Tom Pay receiving a prize from Mrs Dinwiddy. he is described as ‘quite a promising athelete’ in the Dover Express report of the event.
Walter Emden is standing to the right and behind Mrs Dinwiddy. The gentleman seated at the front with straw boater on his knee is Col.Wentworth Odiarne Cavenagh. Reverend Basil B. Smythe is behind the boy.
Mr Emden financed the Children’s Sports days which ended in a tea for the competitors over 5 in the Parish hall
