Mr G. Arliss has offered a sports field to the village. A committee composed of Rev. A. Collins, Mr J. B. Madge, Allen, K. J. Madge and T. Kenway was formed to meet Mr Arliss and accept his offer.
George Arliss was a famous British actor, author, playwright and filmmaker who had a house in St Margaret’s called ‘Crossways Cottage’. He was in the village during the First World War and well into the 1930’s.
This field is thought to have been between the house ‘Crossways’ and the first house up Droveway Gardens
