Roman coin found in St Margaret's, 1910
Cutting from unidentified local newspaper dated 4 March 1910 describing a coin found by William Stone in St Margaret’s and shown to Lt. Col. W O Cavenagh. The coin was sent to the British Museum and in his reply of 1 March 1910 the Keeper of Coins identified it as a silver denarius of the Emperor Antoninus Puis – AD 131-161. on the reverse the coin shows Annona, a personification of the goddess of the annual grain supply to Rome.
