The steps down to the Bay ( The Long Steps) in the aftermath of the hurricane force winds that swept through southern England during the night of 15/16 October 1987.
The first photograph taken from the bottom (Bay end) up towards the village shows felled trees almost in regimented lines.
The two other photographs show the extent of the damage to the trees that flanked the steps.

My Parents owned Steps Cottage at the time of the storm. All the trees that fell on that awful night missed the house and the green house. We also had to pay to have the trees cut and removed from the steps.
My family had owned this house for many many years before this storm.
