Taken from the Gordon Denoon album and captioned:
‘Ready for the fancy-dress evening, Tommie and Joan in the lane’
Tommie and Joan are Gordon’s wife and daughter. The lane referred to is Cripps Lane running between the two Cliffe Hotel buildings.
Photograph undated but this fancy-dress evening is referred to in Gordon Denoon’s book, ‘Saga of St Margaret’s’, as taking place in 1926. Tommie is dressed as Carmen and Joan as Bacchante, which took the children’s prize.
