Wartime damage at the west door of St Margaret’s Church, 14 August 1940. Caused by the dropping of a bomb from a German aircraft. The men standing with spades at the crater are, from the left, Bert Fagg, Percy Curling (although there is a conflicting identification of a Mr Upton in this position), Harry Crannis and the Revd. Frank Cartman.
