'Wrecks on our Shores' by Jean Melluish
An interesting article by Jean Melluish entitled ‘Wrecks on our Shores’, describes her attempt to identify a ship picture at her home, which proved to be the Firth of Cromarty ashore in St Margaret’s Bay.
On the reverse is a short piece concerning Captain Dawson and his discovery of a picture of HMS ‘Hermes’, which in 1913, after successfully launching a seaplane, was converted to carry three planes and thus virtually became the first ‘aircraft carrier’. She was torpedoed and sunk off St Margaret’s Bay in 1914.
