The first part of this accession is a coloured photocopy of a Permit Book issued to a Miss A M Johnston living at The Droveway, to permit her to visit the Dover area during WW1. The other scans are of the instructions and maps of the area for which access is required. Alice, who was born in Glasgow in 1891 does not appear on the 1911 census for the village and seems to be in domestic service in the village. Dover was a restricted area during WW1 and anyone needing to visit the town on a regular basis had to have one of these permit books. Miss Johnson seems to have lived in the Droveway and had her identity confirmed in the permit by Dr Molesworth, the village doctor.
