These photographs were in the possession of my mother, Mrs Margaret Hope Brooks, who lived in Canterbury. Mrs Brooks (born in 1906) was the daughter of Henry Osborn Austin, who lived and worked at Hope Farm from approximately 1900 to 1906. Henry Austin married Annie Elizabeth Laslett, the daughter of William and Jane Laslett of Hope Farm, in 1904.
The photographs are of Eunice C Evens, who lived at Platte Saline and later at Holly Lodge, St Margaret’s at Cliffe.
Miss Evens was godmother to Margaret Hope Austin, who married George Brooks in 1938. I have read that Miss Evens had green fingers with vegetables and animals. As far as animals are concerned I think these photographs bear this out.
