Thanks to the National Lottery for funding the Hobbs project

From the 9th Feb 2020 the newly restored Hobbs Cross, which originally marked the grave of Second Lieutenant GB Hobbs of the Royal Flying Corps, will be permanently on display in St Margaret’s village church. This oak cross was discovered in 2017 and has been restored by St Margaret’s History Society with the support of the National Heritage Lottery Fund and private donations.  For access when the church is not in use, apply for the key at the village shop. Thanks also to St Margaret’s at Cliffe Primary School and the St Margaret’s at Cliffe PCC for all their help with the project and to our volunteers Heather Berwick, Alan Poole and Christine Waterman for their work in making this project a success.
