St Margaret's Bay from Ness Point. postmark 1933
This unusual, portrait style, sepia postcard is titled ‘Cliff and Beach, St.Margaret’s Bay’ and does show the Bay, beach and cliffs to good effect. It is number 11088 in a series produced by M. & R. J. Gough of the Post Office in St. Margaret’s-at-Cliffe. It was postmarked in Muswell Hill, London, N.10 11.30pm 17 July 1933.
The recipient of the card was Mrs Groves who ran the Cliffe Hotel with her husband. This is possibly a thank you from a customer or relative for their stay at the hotel. Many people stayed every year and built up a very friendly relationship with the Groves Family.
