St Margaret's Bay

The Bay with its high chalk cliffs and views to France has always been a popular subject for painters and photographers. These views show the changing face of the Bay and in particular views of a well used road known as the 'Undercliffe Road' which used to run along the base of the cliffs from Dover to Kingsdown, and which is now no longer visible due to changes in sea level.

We have a separate category 'The Village on the Beach' for images and information about the houses, pub tearoom and hotel which were originally located at the foot of the cliffs
