St Margaret's Bay from Ness Point. c1880
With no development having taken place on the cliffs, this image may well have been taken before the turn of the 20th century.
The garden of The Green Man Inn, left foreground looks well cultivated, the Coastguard Cottages are still prominent with other developments around them.
The boathouses are still in place, and the large area of beach shows no signs of erosion, meaning that the building of Dover Harbour is either yet to begin or has only just started, which occurred in the 1890’s.
