A photocopy of an article from the Journal of the British Archaeological Association, published on 30 September, 1884. It was written by the Rev. E C Lucey, M A, vicar of the parish of St Margaret’s at the time and read by him at the Dover Congress in August, 1883. It gives a detailed history of the village as perceived at that time: barrows, coin finds, manorial histories, land ownership and the relationship to St Martin’s, Dover. Some detail of ownership of St Margaret’s and Westcliffe churches.
