HMS Nubian
HMS Nubian a Tribal Class destroyer attached to The Dover Patrol during WW1. In action in The First Battle of Dover Straights 26/27th October 1916 . Attacked by German torpedo boats from the ‘Flanders Flotilla’ who had launched a raid in an attempt to destroy allied shipping HMS Nubian, one of six Tribal class destroyers sent to repel the German raiders, was torpedoed and driven ashore on the South Foreland. Subsequently she was towed into Dover and thence to Chatham where the after part was attached to the forepart of HMS Zulu ( another Tribal class destroyer who had hit a mine and had the stern blown off) to become HMS Zubian.
