The White House, St Margaret's Road and the wartime tunnel in the grounds
This is an article about the tunnel especially dug for the occupants of The White House, which lays off St Margaret’s Road, for their safety in wartime. The house was requisitioned during the war during which time the soldiers spent some time applying graffiti to the passage walls.
It was 60 years later, when the house was sold that the tunnel entrance was rediscovered by the back door and explored.
