One of a set of three Sackville maps.
This map is titled ‘St Margarets Bay. Gradient from A to B 1 in 15’. The map is hand drawn by Spencer Chadwick, Architect & Surveyor, 17 Parliament Street, SW. Top right of map (not included in published images) reads ‘To accompany Chadwicks letter of 27 March 1888’.
The first image is of the bulk of the map showing The Hermitage and a road layout across the South Foreland with a proposed road drawn in pencil. The next five images are expanded segments of the same plan showing more detail.
The final image is of the map front cover bearing the Arthur Cecil Sackville bookplate and crest. Arthur Sackville lived in The Hermitage (later South Sands House)
