Views of the Green Man public house, now the Coastguard on the beach at St Margaret’s Bay. The first view shows the ruinous state of the building after the war when it had been damaged by the army ‘Battle School’ on the beach. Other views show it pre war as The Green Man and post war after restoration and rebirth as The Coastguard
The contributer of these views Mr Anthony Guest recalls ‘I can remember the sign out side The Green Man. On one side it had a man coming out of the sea covered in sea weed and the other was Robin Hood in his green uniform. I believe I am right in saying at the time it was the only public house in Kent that had two different pictures on the sign’.
