Luray Victory; aground on The Goodwins. 1946
The photograph shows the American cargo vessel wrecked on the Goodwins on the 30th January 1946.
The article form the Walmer Lifeboat website is by David Chamberlain with accompanying photographs of the Walmer lifeboat visiting the remains of the wrecked vessel on the 23rd March 2011. At the time of stranding, all the crew of 49 were rescued by the Walmer lifeboat, the ‘Charles Dibdin’, when Freddie Upton was the cox’n.
