Lorry stuck on Bay Hill. 1983
The driver, a Belgian, was carrying shirts from Heathrow to Dusseldorf via Dover Docks. He thought St Margaret’s was a short cut to the docks. It took him all afternoon to get past the first bend on the way back up Bay Hill and got completely stuck on the second bend outside the garden of Villa Gris Nez, and in spite of help from two breakdown jeeps and a tractor, had to wait until a heavy duty tow truck from Canterbury arrived at tea time to rescue him.
