Sea Street: The Chalet with the proprietor, Henry Sproston, standing outside
This hut was in the garden of Buena Vista in Sea Street and was right on the road just inside the front entrance.
The advert for Henry Sproston’s shop is dated 1892.
The 1881 Census Return for St Margaret’s at Cliffe has Henry Sproston, aged 56 and Sarah E Sproston, wife aged 55, as living at Buena Vista
Henry Sproston is not on the 1871 census but appears on the 1882 Kelly’s Directory for Kent as a Car Proprietor.Further listings are;

Henry Sproston died in 1903, his monument inscription in St Margaret’s at Cliffe churchyard reads:
‘In memory of HENRY SPROSTON who departed this life December 24th 1903 aged 79 years. A loving husband for 56 years’
Henry Sproston was survived by his wife who continued to live at Buena Vista
