Guising and the Kentish Hooden Horse : James Frost ( Also Society AGM at 7pm)

Hoodening is an ancient winter custom unique to East Kent, involving a wooden horse’s head on a pole, carried by a man concealed by a sack, and would almost certainly have been known in this village well into the 19th Century. James is an artist, theatre designer, puppeteer, lecturer and curator, and has been involved in making and bringing back the Hooden Horse to the area since 2005, mounting exhibitions about it in several museums in Kent and he has also recently published a book on the subject.

Our Society AGM will be held before the talk at 7pm. Please come along and find out what our plans are for the future. The talk will begin at 7.30pm.
